It's Devil Doll, dammit !!! Apr 26, 2008
By Vinnie Silvagio What's up, Amazon?? Why is the artist listed as Chris McFarland? And then when I try to inform you that it's wrong, you have it right on your "update product info" page, so I can't make the correction. And there's no other way to communicate the error except to write a review! The other review here has nothing to do with this disc.
This artist is Colleen Duffy, known as Devil Doll, and she's one of the sultry-est, smokin-est, sexiest artists out there. Her band, also known as Devil Doll, is great. The material, a mixture of alt-blues, alt-latin, alt-jazz and alt-country, is outstanding. This is a wonderful album, by a wonderful artist, and she deserves to be identified properly. And heard by as many lucky listeners as possible.

Solid effort start to finish Aug 12, 2008

Chris McFarland?? What the hey... The Return of Eve is a really really good disc. Impossible to categorize as she covers a lot of styles. A little smoultry R&B; a little rockabilly; some alt-country. "Sexy" sounds like punk met 1940's noir. "The Way You Do" has a ZZ Top boogie feel to it (reminds me a bit of La Grange musically). Colleen Duffy (aka devil doll) has great style, think Neko Case with a more retro style. Quite a chanteuse. Her band is very very tight. Not a bad track on the disc - and the bonus cut "Fever", a song which I am fairly tired of, swings nicely. If you like the short samples Amazon provides, you'll love this disc. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars...

Love it! sexy and dangerous! Jan 15, 2009
By John Schultz I don't know what's up with the reviews on this CD, seems as if there was some confusion in the beginning. This is a review for Colleen Duffy's devil doll.
Devil Doll is a marinade of wonderful styles. I love the torch song/rockabilly/Punk/Country sound. The seductive torch like crooning mixed with the straightforward upright bass thumping rockabilly sound and razor sharp punk-like lyrics is a feast for the ears!
My fav tracks are "Fever", "Queen of the road" and especially "Sexy". While this is a GREAT CD it has a large country flavor to it, I still like the first CD "Queen Of Pain" better. It has more torch song influences which I prefer. Queen of Pain

Another winner from Devil Doll Mar 31, 2009
By Joseph Francis She packs her CD's with one great song after another. Not just one or two good ones and a bunch of filler. I think I might like her first album a little better, but I'm still giving this one 5 stars. I like her take on 'Doreen' on this album better than the original Old 97's version - and I'm a big Old 97's fan.
I notice one of the tags offered on this review is 'explicit lyrics.' She does toss in a few now and then, so think about who else is in the car with you before you throw it in the CD player.

More Style Than Substance Feb 16, 2009
By Jay Murphy
"Jay Thing"
Highly stylized retro rock 'n' roll with overly familiar sounding melodies that are redeemed by witty and often humorous lyrics and heartfelt performances.
